The American Pit Bull Terrier was a breed developed in the early nineteenth century in Europe by the English. The first came PitBull crossing the old English Bulldog with the now extinct English Terrier (quite similar to the current Jack Russell Terrier), with much agility and physical strength. Selected by his strength and fighting, the Pit Bull was taken to the western region of the United States, where he first developed the race with more intensity in the current format. From there they came to be used in blood-sports, initially struggles with bears or bulls, then only fights between dogs.

In 1835, with the prohibition of dog fighting, had to make a new selection of dogs pulling out of the aggressive play and selecting the specimens with temperament. In 1898 the United Kennel Club (UKC) recognized the first copy of the race and was founded in 1909 in the United States ADBA (American Dog Breeders Association), an exclusive association of the breed Pit Bull. Both as far as possible try to keep the PitBull in its original format with unparalleled determination (Gameness) being the main feature race, followed by muscle strength, agility and endurance. His strength is designed for both horizontal displacements as races, and vertical jumps and climbing trees. It has high strength organic and rarely gets sick. Is able to run for a long time without getting tired and is so determined that when you have a job to do rarely give up. The temperament is an intelligent dog, faithful to the owner and docile when well treated by those who acquire it. To purchase a copy of this breed, the new owner should know at the outset that it is a dog born athlete, you need plenty of exercise should be trained and socialized from puppy. When confined in a very small depression born of isolation that can lead to problems in the temperament of the dog. The temperament of any dog is divided into two topics, the instinct is the ability of the dog for some functions such as hunting, herding, guarding, etc. and behavior that are the attitudes of his personality that are acquired in the middle where he lives. Therefore one should know that the Pit Bull has the instinct for endurance activities (eg sports.) Misused by cruel people at that time in arenas, and small game inherited from their ancestors terriers. Often the guilt of a dog being aggressive is the actual owner can not deal with the animal, the life that lives with him inside. So, who takes a pit for flat, you should prepare to include at least 1 hour daily walks and exercise. Today the Pit Bull can adapt to any activity that is not healthy to baiting, such as extreme sports, working trials with traction, agility and even the show ring. The baiting is classified as a crime of cruelty to animals (Art. 32 of Law 9605/98) with a penalty of 3 months to 1 year imprisonment and fine.
